A Card for my Favourite 13 year old...

I needed a birthday card for my favourite nephew yesterday, and while I had grand plans of hand-cutting a basketball hoop and adding glitter flingers... I just didn't get that far.

This year each of his brothers received personalised cards with their names and team colours (well, one got a WTF? you're 20 eeek) but still, personal yeah?

Here's what I created... still kinda basketball-y? I mean, a traditional basketball is orange & black...

The important thing is, he loved it.  And for him, he loves that Aunty Lis makes him a card every year...

Super simple, the card was created using Basic Black Cardstock cut to 21cm x 21cm and scored at 10.5cm, the Pumpkin Pie mat was cut to 20.5cm x 10cm and stuck down using multipurpose glue, the second Basic Black layer is 20cm x 9.5cm, I've then run a piece of Pumpkin Pie Cardstock through the BigShot using the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder, and then DieCut his name using (SORRY but they're retired) Large Alphabet Dies and finally I've added a little Happy Birthday from Itty Bitty Greetings and popped it up using Mini Dimensionals.

Thanks for popping in, I'll be back in the morning with my take on this weeks GDP Challenge.

Timeless Tulips

I promised I'd come back with some sneak peeks from the up coming Occasions Catalogue and Sale a Bration for 2019/2020 and here is the first... Timeless Tulips was given to all Demonstrators that attended OnStage 2019.  I have a soft spot for tulips; my beautiful Mother in Law was Dutch and tulips were her favourite so when I was setting up and saw Timeless Tulips I actually welled up.

It's quite stormy in Sydney today so I apologise for the dark photo's.

I'm way too early, but I'll give this card to my Sister in Law for her birthday.  She's a pink girl and I know that she'll love these tulips too.

To create this card, I've cut Roccoco Rose A4 Cardstock at 10.5cm, scored at 14.85cm and folded it in half. I then cut down a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock to 10.3cm x 14.6cm and stuck it down using Tombow.  I've then trimmed down a piece off the 2019-2021 InColor DSP in Rococo Rose just a few millimetres smaller, but before I mounted it using my favourite product ever - Stampin' Dimensionals; I've wrapped a piece of Rococo Rose Scalloped Ribbon and a piece of Linen Thread and secured them at the back using Tear & Tape THEN stuck it down (don't forget to add ribbon first, pulling up a layer can be a nightmare) Finally, I got to ink up my Timeless Tulips,  in you guessed it - more Rococo Rose. On a scrap piece of Very Vanilla so I can use the coordinating punch - I KNOW! I love a bundle too.  On another piece of Very Vanilla (8.5cm x 12.5cm I've stamped 3 stalks using Old Olive, I've punched the Tulips out and mounted them using dimensionals, mounted this piece onto another piece of Very Vanilla for dimension (this layer was just 2mm bigger than the stamped piece) I've then added a quick sentiment near the bow and VOILA! Done...

You can purchase any of the items I've used using the links below.  Timeless Tulips won't be available to purchase until January 3rd BUT if you Join my Team, you can purchase it as part of your Starter Kit from December 3rd (I love the perks of being a Demonstrator - pre-orders are the best!)

Card Making Basics

or... what do I need to start making my own cards?

To be honest, not as much as you think.
  • Paper Trimmer
  • Paper Snips
  • Adhesive; see chart above
  • Various Stamp Sets and corresponding Clear Blocks
  • Ink, especially Stazon Jet Black

a not so basic addition to this would be my Stamparatus, which I love for perfect stamp placement every single time AND for those times when you want a darker image - ink up and stamp again knowing you'll be stamping in exactly the same spot.

My card bases usually consist of;
  • Whisper White Thick Cardstock
  • Coloured Cardstock, I find that I reach for our Brights and Subtles Collections most often

    Other;
    • Designer Series Paper
    • Ribbons, Twine and Embellishments

    Of course... STAMPS!!!

    Stamps are personal, so instead of overwhelming you, I'm going to leave you with this graphic showing the different types of stamps you'll see throughout the catalogue.
